Retro Story

I did enjoy Retro Story. For you who don't know - I used to take pictures for my friend's blog (this is our first post from over 6 years ago: http://retro-story.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/50s-on-wheels.html). I am planning to refresh some of them here. Watch this space. I had good fun with Joanna and our sessions together gave me a lot of confidence and tons of experience as a photographer. Thanks to those few years of our shooting together I managed to pick up and then utilise some of my skills later in the future for other people I worked with. I also think I realised where my photography calling is. First and foremost I like shooting in black and white. I find B&W much more expressive, simple and powerful. Secondly I like old photographs with imperfections on them - scratches, blurs, poor contrast, faded colours or no colour, that's what appeal to me. I find pictures like that more humane and they talk to me better than all-so-glossy-and-super-sharp-ultrahigh-definition-and-resolution shots taken with stupidly expensive cameras.
I do shoot digital. It's so easy and accessible that I can't possibly resist, especially now, when I stopped using Photoshop altogether and do all post processing on an iPad. It's all so easy and fun. However, I often try to make my pictures look vintage and, hmm, imperfect I guess. There is no more Retro Story blog, but my own story goes on. After a long and camera-deprived time it's possibly stronger than ever because I don't have to prove anything anymore to anyone.
What do you think of this one? Took it on one of recent walks.
